Student's painting of a sunset
When Brian walked into Val Cansick's studio two years ago, and asked if she could teach him to paint, it was a turning point in his life. Suffering from a chronic back injury, Brian wanted to take his mind off the pain and decided to try his hand at art. He had a creative mind having designed and built ornamental fireplaces and surrounds for a number of years but his injury meant he could no longer do such physically demanding work. Val takes on students of all ages and abilities and she decided this was a student who may get some important therapeutic value from getting immersed in a painting course. That was two and a half years ago, and on 17th June 2017, Brian and his supportive wife Maria, opened the Mac Art Gallery and his first few weeks are showing huge promise. Already working on two commissions, with a number of sales and loads if interest in his new venture, we wish him every success for the future.
Val says.. 'Brian is successful because he has practiced every day and continues to do so. He deserves his success and is constantly experimenting with his work..'
