An exhibition of oil paintings by Val Cansick

Part One of a series of three exhibitions over the next 18 months, Val's work for 2017 is the result of her continuing passion for studying and painting the way light plays on colour and texture and how it can confuse our perception of the views we see of landscapes and objects.

Using illustrative and expressive approaches, palette knives and a variety of brushes and tools to spread and apply paint, Val has used a mixture of knowledge from a lifetime in art, from her original training in illustration, to her ongoing explorations into freestyle painting. Sometimes inspired and sometimes composed, her paintings reflect her fascination with effects and techniques.

Her art courses are designed to help other artists of all levels to explore and improve their own work.
